The Center for Philanthropy at the University of Liechtenstein has published the country’s first comprehensive philanthropy report. Closing a long-standing data gap, the report provides—in a systematic and scientifically grounded manner—a clear overview of Liechtenstein’s foundation and non-profit association sector for the first time.

In 2025, the Principality of Liechtenstein has once again been ranked the best location in the world for charitable foundations and philanthropic engagement. This is the result of the 2025 Global Philanthropy Environment Index (GPEI), recently published by the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. Liechtenstein has thus maintained its leading position, which it first achieved in the 2022 edition of the GPEI.

Liechtenstein has the highest density of associations in the German-speaking world. The top field of activity is “Culture and Music.”

The Center for Philanthropy at the University of Liechtenstein has launched a new online information service. The portal "Liechtenstein Philanthropy Talks" (philanthropytalks.li/) offers extensive knowledge about charitable commitment and philanthropy. Under the motto "HOLISTIC. MEANINGFUL. EFFECTIVE." it is aimed at philanthropists, volunteers and all those working in the charitable, non-profit sector.
